Shaimaa Saied |
A Syrian doctor and feminist writer, born in Rome in 1954. Due to her father’s work in the diplomatic corps, she studied primary and middle school in several countries, and secondary school in Syria. She studied human medicine at the University of Damascus, graduating in 1977. From 1980 to 1986, she traveled to France and Germany to pursue a specialty in internal medicine. Then she returned to Syria, opened her own clinic, and married director Haitham Hakki in 1978. She has several published books, such as "Diabetes", a medical book published in 1987, and the book “A Liberated Woman for Display”, a collection of stories published in 1995. She's known for Heavenly Space (2005).
