Irish actor born on 19 March 1928 in New York City, New York, US. He was a major British TV star in the 1950s and 1960s, but had a career that spanned for years afterwards. His most notable works include The Prisoner (1967-1968), Braveheart (1995), A Time to Kill (1996), and Columbo (1974-2000). He died on 13 January 2009 in Santa Monica, California, US.
