He is an actor, writer, director, and producer from Northern Ireland, born on December 10, 1960. He started his acting career in Chariots of Fire (1981). He's known for directing and starring in several film adaptations of William Shakespeare's plays, including Henry V, Much Ado About Nothing, and Hamlet. He was nominated for an Academy Award 5 times.
