Shaimaa Saied |
An American novelist, born in El Dorado, Arkansas, United States. He grew up in a number of different cities in the state. He joined the army during the Korean War, and then joined the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. He obtained a degree in journalism in 1958, began writing for the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville student newspaper, Arkansas Traveler, and worked in various newspapers such as the New York Herald Tribune. He served as head of the newspaper's London bureau, then left journalism in 1964 and returned to Arkansas to begin working on writing novels. He's known for True Grit (1969) and Rooster Cogburn (1975). He died on February 17, 2020. |
