American actor and musician born on 22 June 1936 in Brownsville, Texas. He studied at Pomona College, California, and was a helicopter pilot. He made his acting debut on The Last Movie (1971). He won a Golden Globe for Best Actor for A Star Is Born (1976). His works include Payback (1999), The Jacket (2005), and the Blade film trilogy (1998–2004).
