American writer, director, and producer born on 4 February 1940 in the Bronx, New York City. He began his career in 1962 by directing the short film Expostulations. He is considered a pioneer in the zombie film genre which started with Night of the Living Dead (1968). Other major works of his include Monkey Shines (1988), Land of the Dead (2005), and Diary of the Dead (2007). He died on 16 July 2017 in Canada. |
