Famke Janssen is a Dutch actress, director, screenwriter and former fashion model. She's best known for turns as evil Bond girl Xenia Onatopp in "GoldenEye" (1995), and Jean Grey/Phoenix in the "X-Men" series. Janssen was born in the Netherlands in 1964. She studied economics for a year at the University of Amsterdam, which she later called "the stupidest idea I ever had." She moved to the States in 1984 and modeled from Chanel in New York. She then studied writing and literature at Columbia University, and soon after moved to Los Angeles to pursue acting. After a few roles, she was cast as the villainous Xenia in "GoldenEye" and her performance earned her rave reviews. Since then, she's appeared in "Nip/Tuck" (2003), as well as three "X-Men" movies. She was appointed a Goodwill Ambassador for Integrity by the United Nations in 2008. She made her directorial debut in 2011 with "Bringing Up Bobby." |
