Israeli-Palestinian director and activist born in Nazareth to an Israeli mother and a Palestinian father who both advocated for Palestinian rights. He began his career in the early 1980s, his works include Arna's Children (2006), which is a documentary about his mother who founded a theater for Jenin's children in the 1980s. He also co-founded Al Hurriya theater in 2006, in front of which he was assassinated by a group of extremists and died in a hospital in Jenin on 4 April 2011.
