An English actor, director, and producer, born in Cambridge, England, United Kingdom. He studied at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and began his career in a small part in the movie In Which We Serve (1942). He won several awards, such as the Golden Globe and BAFTA. He became known for his role in Jurassic Park. He won two Academy Awards in 1983 for Best Director and Best Picture for the movie Gandhi. He passed away on August 24, 2014 at Denville Hall, Northwood, Hillingdon, UK.
