The writer, producer and director "Jean-Pierre Dardenne" was born in Liège, Belgium on the 21st of April 1951. After meeting filmmaker "Armad Gatti" he decided to enter the movie business. He began making narrative and documentary films in the late 1970. In 1978 he shot his first documentary "Le chant du rossignol", about the resistance against the Nazis during the Second World War in Belgium. In 1986 they shot their first fiction movie, "Falsch" about a Jewish family massacred by the Nazis. In 1999 his film"Rosetta", won the "Palme d'Or" at the Cannes Festival. In 2002 his last movie, "Le Fils" won the ecumenical jury prize. |
