He first wife was actress Virginia Nicolson, then he married actress Rita Hayworth, and then actress Paola Mori. In 1971, he was awarded an honorary Oscar for his superlative artistry and versatility in the creation of motion pictures. Welles died on October 10, 1985, in Los Angeles, California.
