He initially took up photography and won several awards, and after obtaining a university degree in psychology, he moved to the field of advertising. Thereafter, he turned to cinema. He started as a production assistant and then a producer on his second movie. His first movie was Flashdance (1983). Jerry Bruckheimer, producer of the series CSI, is regarded as one of the best film producers in Hollywood, and he has worked on many notable movies, such as Armageddon, Top Gun, and Pearl Harbor.
