He was born in 1943. He studied French literature, and obtained a BA in Dramatic Arts. He started his stage career in 1970, and after three years he made his film debut. Over the course of his career, he became one of the most prominent figures of Iranian cinema in acting, directing, costume design, art direction, and screenwriting. He participated in the series Mukhtar Al-Thaqafi (2010), among others.
