She was born in the Iranian capital, Tehran, in 1998, to renowned writer and director Asghar Farhadi and famous director Parisa Bakhtavar. Sarina began her acting career by playing a role in the comedy series Behind the University Gates, and then acted in the movie Tambourine, which is the first film directed by her mother. She also participated in the movie A Separation, which was directed by her father, and for which she received, along with the other two female leads, the Silver Bear Award for Best Actress at the Berlin Film Festival in 2011.
