Mexican writer, actor, producer and director, born on April 23, 1939, in Tuxpan, Veracruz, Mexico. He is considered one of the first generation of directors from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). His most important works include the film El Callejón de los Milagros (1995), based on the novel Midaq Alley by Naguib Mahfouz, Los albañiles (1976), Red Dawn (1990), The Attempt Dossier (2010), and the series Burden of Guilt (2009).
