Salma El-Sharkawy |
Mexican director and screenwriter, born in Mexico City to a Jewish family of Polish origin. His father was producer Alfredo Ripstein. He became acquainted with the cinematic arts at a very young age and met Luis Buñuel after watching his film Nazarín (1959). He directed his first film, Time to Die (1966), based on the story of Gabriel García Márquez, followed by works such as The Castle of Purity (1973), Foxtrot (1976), Life Sentence (1979), and El otro (1984). |
