A British director, born on August 1, 1965, in Berkshire, England. His mother was an author who wrote children's books and his father was a university lecturer, they were separated when he was a child. He was raised in Oxfordshire and attended Cambridge University. He began his career as a theater director for plays like The Cherry Orchard, Troilus and Cressida, and Richard III. In 1999, he directed his first feature film, American Beauty, followed by Road to Perdition (2002), Jarhead (2005), Revolutionary Road (2008), Away We Go (2009), and Skyfall (2012).
