An Egyptian singer and poet who began his artistic career in 1980 and worked with the composer Abdel Halim Noweira. He presented more than 15 songs in the art of Muwashshah (long Arabic poems). He was the brother of sports critic Najeeb Al Mestikawy. He graduated from the Faculty of Agriculture, Department of Chemistry, and worked in the Ministry of Agriculture until he was retired as an undersecretary. He learned classical music under the tutelage of Safar Ali and specialized in composing the Muwashshah, which was revived in the late seventies. He passed away on July 1, 1994.
