An Austrian actor, born in Vienna, Austria, on May 3, 1902. His father was the famous opera star Leo Slezak. He studied medicine for some time and then joined a bank. In 1922, he made his film debut in Sodom and Gomorrah. He then continued working in German films during the twenties. In 1930, he went to the United States of America and made his Broadway debut in the musical comedy Meet My Sister, followed by Music in the Air. He was married to Johanna Van Rijn (1943-1983), with whom he had three children. His works, include: Once Upon a Honeymoon (1942), Lifeboat (1944), and Born to Kill (1947). He committed suicide on April 21, 1983 in Flower Hill, New York. |
