A German actor of Jewish origins, born in Neunkirchen, Germany. He appeared in more than 130 films between 1922 and 1977. He studied at the university in Königsberg and worked first as a journalist, theater critic, and story editor for the Berliner Theatre. His works include The Scarlet Pimpernel, Behold the Man!, Golden Salamander, and Dr. Mabuse vs. Scotland Yard. He died on November 21, 1980 in Rosenheim, Bavaria, West Germany.
