An American actor, born in Youngstown, Ohio, USA, on April 12, 1946. His father was a truck driver and his mother was a social worker. He is of English-Irish descent, and attended Ursuline High School in Youngstown. He was very talented in American football, which allowed him to attend Ohio University on a football scholarship. After graduating, he worked as a teacher of social studies at the university. He joined one of the regional theaters to practice his hobby of acting, from which he worked in many films and television series in small roles until he gained wide fame. He got married to the actress Catherine Rusoff in 1986, with whom he had two daughters. He received a star on the Walk of Fame in 2011. Among his most important works are: Popeye Doyle (1986), Married with Children (1987), The Bone Collector (1999), and Modern Family (2009).
