An American actress, who was born in 1910. When she was thirteen years old, she worked in the theater and became famous at the time, and then moved to Hollywood in 1931. In 1932, she met Charlie Chaplin and worked with him in the movie Modern Times (1936), but her acting career was almost disrupted due to her relationship with Chaplin, as they married secretly in 1936, but the marriage failed and they separated in 1940. She was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in So Proudly We Hail! in 1943. But then her star began to fade, her contract was terminated, and she quit acting. She is best known for her roles in The Great Dictator (1940), The Ghost Breakers (1940), and Suddenly It's Spring (1947).
