Elia Kazan was an American director, born on September 7, 1909 in Constantinople, Ottoman Empire (now Istanbul, Turkey) and moved to America in 1913. Kazan studied theatrical art in Basel for two years before joining the “Theater Group” in 1932. He's known for many movies such as...Read more A Streetcar Named Desire (1951), Wild River (1960), The Visitors (1972), and The Last Tycoon (1976). During his career, he won two Oscars as Best Director and received an Honorary Oscar, and four Golden Globe Awards and nominated to many others. He passed away on September 28, 2003 at the age of 94, at his home in Manhattan.
