Krzysztof Kieslowski was a Polish director and writer born in Poland's capital, Warsaw in 1941. He was considered to be one of the most important and greatest European directors and the most influential in the world. In 1969, he graduated from Lodz Film School, and he started his journey in directing short documentaries. His notable works include Dekalog (1989), The Double Life of Veronique (1991), and the Three Colours trilogy (1993 –1994). In 1994, he announced his retirement from filmmaking and he passed away on March 13, 1996, at the age of 55 during open-heart surgery.
