Billy Boyd is a Scottish actor and musician who is best known for his role as Pippin in the “Lord of the Rings” series. Boyd’s parents died when he was young, so he and his sister were raised by their grandmother. At the age of 16, Boyd appeared in a local musical production of “Hans Andersen” in Scotland. He graduated from the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama and then began his career in acting in 1996, appearing in the film “Taggart.” His breakthrough acting role was in the “Lord of the Ring” series starting in 2000. Boyd also wrote and sang the song “The Edge of Night,” which appeared in the final films of the series, “Lord of the Rings: Return of the King.” His other major works include: “Stone of Destiny” (2008), “Dorothy and the Witches of Oz” (2012), and “The Forger” (2012).
