He was an Egyptian writer and novelist, who was born in Mansoura on 6 October 1884. He received his primary education there and obtained his baccalaureate degree in 1906 in Cairo, after which he joined the American University in Beirut. He moved to England to study medicine, but he turned to sociology and became a translator at the Civil Court in Khartoum, Sudan. He has translated many international plays. Some of his works have been adapted into films, including Who Is the Criminal? (1944), and Intricacies of Life (1942).
