An American actor, best known for playing the role of Detective John Shaft in the movie Shaft in 1971, and also in its two subsequent sequels in 1972 and 1973. After the success of the role, the production company decided to turn the film into a TV series with the same name. His other credits include George of the Jungle (1997) and Brick (2005). He died of cancer on October 24, 2023. |
