An Italian writer and director, born in Sarntal, Italy. He graduated in communication sciences in Vienna and then in cinema in London. He later moved to Rome, where he forged a relationship with Luca Ragazzi in 1999. In 2001, he began working for the TV channel Arte, and in 2005, he began presenting the program "Journal de la Culture - Arte Kultur" there.
He began his career as a film director in 2004, directing the TV documentary Il sangue dell'impero with Pietro Suber. In 2008, he and Luca Ragazzi directed the autobiographical documentary Improvvisamente l'inverno scorso, dealing with the difficulties they face as a gay couple in Italy. The film was shown at the Berlin International Film Festival in 2008, where it won the Manfred Salzgeber Award - Special Mention. In 2009, it also received the Silver Ribbon Award for Best Documentary. In 2011, he directed, together with Luca Ragazzi, the documentary Italy: Love It, or Leave It, a road movie-style examination of Italy under Berlusconi. It won the Audience Award and Best Feature Film at the 2011 Milan Film Festival.
