British actor born Richard Henry Sellers on 8 September 1925 in Hampshire, England. He is a three-time Academy Award nominee and has won several awards. He was married 4 times and has 3 children. He is considered to be one of the most prolific comedians in history. His most famous role was playing Insp. Jacques Clouseau in The Pink Panther film series from 1963 till 1978. His other notable credits include Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb (1964), After the Fox (1966), and Being There (1979). He died of a heart attack on 24 July 1980 in Lambeth, London. |
