His first film, which he co-wrote, was Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers (1988). His most notable works include Wrong Turn, The Vampire Diaries, and The Marine. His directorial debut was the short film Under the Car (1992). He has also acted and appeared in several works, in addition to working as a producer. He is a member of the Writers Guild of America West.
