American actor born on 27 May 1911 in St. Louis, Missouri, US. He is known for his horror film appearances. His career spanned over five decades. He graduated from Yale in 1933 with a degree in art history. He made his stage debut in London in 1935, and appeared with Orson Welles on the Mercury Theatre. His notable works include House of Wax (1953), House on Haunted Hill (1959), The Fly (1958), and The Pit and the Pendulum (1961). He got married 3 times. He died of lung cancer on 25 October 1993 in Los Angeles, California, US. |
