He received several awards and nominations, including a Golden Globe Award for Best TV Star - Male in 1967 as well as three stars on the Walk of Fame in 1960. He got his big break in 1946, when he had the opportunity to form a duo with comedian Jerry Lewis, appearing together in 17 successful films in 10 years. In 1965, he turned to television, presenting the successful television show The Dean Martin Show, which aired until 1974. Martin died on December 25, 1995, in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, California, of lung cancer.
