Chris Tucker is an American actor and comedian best known for playing Detective James Carter in the Rush Hour films with Jackie Chan. He was born in Atlanta, Georgia, in 1972. Tucker came to prominence in the 1990s as a stand up comedian on Def Comedy Jam. Tucker has starred in a handful of both commercially and critically successful films, including Friday (1995) alongside Ice Cube, The Fifth Element (1997) and of course the Rush Hour films, of which there are three. In 2006, he negotiated $25 million deal to star in Rush Hour 3 , making him the highest paid actor at the time. The Silver Linings Playbook, in which he plays a supporting role, is his first film in five years.
