American director, producer, and writer, born in the United States. He graduated from Harvard University and he majored in literature and drama. He began his artistic career through theater directing, after which he headed to directing a series of documentaries and short films, the most prominent of which was the documentary, The War Room (1992), which was part of a campaign to support the presidential candidate at the time, Bill Clinton. He also directed the series Nashville (2012) and the movie If I Stay (2014).
