Christina Aziz |
Indian-Canadian film director and writer, born in Amritsar, East Punjab, India, in 1950. She studied philosophy at the University of New Delhi and later immigrated to Canada and obtained Canadian citizenship. Her first feature film, Sam & Me, won Honorable Mention in the Camera d'Or category of the 1991 Cannes Film Festival. She is known for her Fire, Earth, and Water trilogy, which depicts oppression and sexism in modern Indian history. She adapted Salman Rushdie's novel "Midnight's Children" into a movie in 2012.
