American writer, producer, and director, born in Brooklyn, United States. He began his studies at Brandeis University in 1962 and transferred to San Diego State University in 1975. He won two Primetime Emmy Awards for Lou Grant and Family Ties. He died on June 22, 2013, in Montecito, USA, at the age of 68, due to brain cancer.
