A Moroccan actor, born in 1921, to a well-to-do oval family. His patriotic journey began when he was not yet fifteen years old, and he participated in the 1937 demonstration called the “Souq Mosque” uprising, which led to him being imprisoned. Along with many militants and artists, he established the first national troupe called Telma, which included among its members many patriotic figures, and which made the great Egyptian theater actor Youssef Wahbi, during his historic visit in 1947, request a meeting with him and dub him “The Prince of Arab Theater.”
Bachir's involvement in the Independence Party increased in 1948, and he joined the secret cell (the Black Crescent). In 1956, after the French occupation was evacuated, he established a new theater troupe called El Kawakeb. He left behind a rich legacy, with more than 360 plays, including Between Yesterday and Today and The Seventh Door, as well as several films, such as Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves and Forcibly a Doctor. He also wrote the lyrics for more than fifty songs, including “Yakawi Qalb." He died on June 23, 1962, in Casablanca, while standing on the stage, of a heart attack.
