An American writer and director of Italian descent, born in New York City, to a father who worked as a taxi driver. He graduated from New York University and began his artistic career in 1989 when he wrote the film Rude Awakening. In 1991, he wrote the script for one of his most famous films, The Fisher King, which achieved great success on both the public and critical levels. His first directorial work was the movie Living Out Loud, followed by several films that he directed, the most famous of which is the movie P.S. I Love You.
