An American actress, born November 21, 1945. She began learning ballet at the age of three. At the age of ten, she danced in the ballet The Nutcracker, and at the age of nineteen, she started teaching ballet after leaving college, where she studied drama. She began her acting career in the comedy series Good Morning World in 1967, but the series was canceled after 26 episodes. She then joined the cast of Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In the same year, for which she won an Emmy. The first film in which she appeared as a dancer was The One and Only, Genuine, Original Family Band (1968). The following year, she played a role opposite actor Walter Matthau in the film Cactus Flower, for which she won anAcademy Award for Best Supporting Actress, and a Golden Globe Award in the same category. Following her success, she landed many roles in films, such as There's a Girl in My Soup (1970) and Shampoo (1975). She played a role opposite her partner Kurt Russell in the 1987 film Overboard. She married twice, the first time to actor and director Gus Trikonis from 1969 to 1974, and in 1975 she married musician Bill Hudson, with whom she had two children, Oliver and Kate Hudson, but they got divorced in 1980. Since 1983, she has been in a relationship with actor Kurt Russell.
