Jan Tomáš Forman, known as Miloš Forman is a Czech film director, screenwriter and professor who worked in Czechoslovakia until 1968. Along with other young directors of his generation, including , Jiří Menzel, Jan Němec, and Jaromil Jireš, he co-founded Czechosloak New Wave. His breakthrough as a director came with his 1967 comedy “Te Fireman's Ball”, which was banned for many years in his home country, but widely recognized and praised internationally. Since his departure from Czechoslovakia, he worked mainly in Hollywood, making highly renowned and critically praised films like “One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest”, “Amadeus”, “It Happened One Night”, “The Silence of the Lambs” and “The People vs. Larry Flynt”. Forman won the Academy Award for Best Director twice, and also won other prestigious awards at the Golden Globes, Cannes, Berlinale, BAFTA, Cesar and the European Film Academy.
