An American actress, born in Seattle, on September 19, 1913. She got married three times: Leif Erickson (1936-1942), Alfred Lobley (1951-1958), and Leland Mikesell (1958-1970) and remained with him until she died. She studied drama and journalism at the University of Washington in Seattle. In 1935, she moved to Hollywood, where she signed a contract with Paramount for 7 years. Years later, she became the best new face, and her works multiplied and her star began to rise continuously. In 1937, she participated with Clifford's Broadway theater troupe in the play The Golden Boy to also shine on stage, but by the end of 1939 she turned to alcohol and became addicted, which led to her to mental instability. Paramount terminated her contract in 1942 and was arrested for driving without lights, then got accused of assaulting a hairdresser, in addition to a charge of alcohol consumption, which led to her freedom being restricted in a private institution in Southern California. She worked on television for some time, but her addiction to alcohol extinguished her stardom, and she practiced some work in several simple companies until she died in 1970. Among her most important works: Come and Get It (1936), Rhythm on the Range (1936), and The Toast of New York (1937). She died on August 1, 1970 in Indianapolis, Indiana, USA, of esophageal cancer.
