An Indian actor, producer, and director, born in Karnataka, India. He is known for his work in Tamil cinema, he has also starred in a few Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam films. In 1993, he starred in Gentleman, for which he won the Tamil Nadu Film Award for Best Actor. His next films were Gangster (1994), Karnaa (1995), and Kuruthipunal (1995). He then starred in the political drama Mudhalvan (1999), where he played an aspiring photojournalist who gets a chance to become the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu for a day. He won the Tamil Nadu State Film Award for Best Actor for his role, among several other nominations. He then appeared in Rhythm (2000), Sri Manjunatha (2001), Ezhumalai (2002), Giri (2004), and Jai Surya (2004). He also appeared in Prasad (2012), which received critical acclaim and was screened at the Berlin Film Festival. |
