Australian actor, producer, and screenwriter. He was born in Kew, Melbourne, Australia. He joined the University of Melbourne, where he began acting in plays and imitating characters. He moved to London in 1959 and began his acting career in several theatres. He was married to Diane Millstead and Elizabeth Spender. His children are Rupert Humphries, Tessa Humphries, and Emily Humphries. In 1997, he won the Sir Peter Ustinov Award at the Banff Television Festival. The British Comedy Awards presented him with the Lifetime Achievement Award in 1999. He passed away on April 22, 2023, in Darlinghurst, Sydney, from complications from hip surgery.
