A British author, born in Norfolk. Her family moved to Stoke Newington, United Kingdom. Her mother was a writer of children's literature, but her daughter Anna published her first novel in her fifties, and it took her six years to write her novel "Black Beauty", which aimed to call for the humane treatment of horses. She died five months after publishing her novel on April 25, 1878.
