A New Zealand actor and director, born in Dunedin, New Zealand. He worked in theater directing for forty-three years in New Zealand, Australia, and England. He also won seven awards for acting and one for directing. He trained at the Mercury Theatre in Auckland, New Zealand, where he played Hamlet and many classical roles in plays by William Shakespeare, as well as modern plays and musicals throughout New Zealand. He's known for Vertical Limit, Rain, and The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King. He died on June 2, 2019, in Palmerston North, New Zealand.
