An American opera singer and theater and film actor, born in California. He studied at the Thornton School of Music at the University of Southern California. He began his career through opera orchestras, and continued his studies of vocal performance in Europe. He appeared for the first time in San Francisco Opera through Richard Strauss's Ariadne auf Naxos. Some of his credits include Paint Your Wagon, Fargo, and Saving Private Ryan. He died on June 30, 2009.
