His friend Arturo Ripstein invited him to participate in an experimental film that was about to be produced. His artistic career began, and his works followed, such as The Mexican (2001), El baile de San Juan (2010), Purgatorio (2008), Mamitas (2011), and Amistad (1997). He died on December 26, 2011, in New York, United States.
