A Romanian singer and actress, born in Bucharest. She is the daughter of an engineer and an economist. Between 1979 and 1991, she studied at the German School in Bucharest, then began her studies at the I. L. Caragiale National University of Theatre and Film. In 1992, French director Tony Gatlif gave her the lead role in the French film The Crazy Stranger, and then her works followed, such as Chicken with Plums (2011), Des milliards de toi mon poussin (2015), Nelly's Adventure (2016), Le petit blond de la casbah (2023), and Doggy Bag (1999). She has released several albums, such as Nationalité Vagabonde, Gypsy Therapy, and The balkanik gospel.
