An American producer, director, and actor, born in Detroit, Michigan, United States, to a shop owner father and a Russian immigrant mother, and he is also the brother of actress Lin Shaye. He received a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Michigan, and a J.D. degree from Columbia Law School. He also attended Stockholm University after winning a Fulbright Scholarship. He is a member of the New York State Bar Association and the American Film Institute. His credits include Cellular (2004) and Freddy vs. Jason (2003).
