He became interested in acting while entertaining American forces before World War II, and despite an acting career that lasted for more than forty years and in which he made a hundred appearances, his first cinematic role came at the age of forty-one. He is known for his participation in Air Bud: Seventh Inning Fetch (2002) and Herbie Fully Loaded (2005).
